A potential new community of priests and consecrated brothers

On July 1, 2025, Father Marcus Schonnop, having been inspired by the witness and charism of the Queenship of Mary Community, began a one-year leave of absence from the Companions of the Cross to discern the founding of a new community of priests and consecrated brothers.
Fr Marcus is discerning alongside Jerome Montpetit, who was also inspired by the witness and charism of the Queenship of Mary Community and felt called to help establish a brotherhood.
On September 8th, Justin Bercier joined them to discern whether he too is called to be part of this potential new community.
During this year, they will:
Live a contemplative life of prayer, work, study and ministry
Establish a small household with young men in the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall, following a simple rule of life
Take part in initial and ongoing formation
Some ministry to, and some ministry opportunities with the Queenship of Mary Community
Live entirely on Divine Providence, embracing poverty
Discern the charism and spirituality of this potential community.
Meet regularly with the Archbishop for guidance and discernment.
Support the Journey
Fr. Marcus and the brothers are stepping out in faith, trusting fully in Divine Providence.
They will be relying entirely on the generosity of others to support their daily needs as they begin this new mission.
Because this emerging community is still in its early stages, it is not yet a registered charity in Canada. This means that, for now, we are unable to issue tax receipts.
All donations will be prayerfully stewarded by Fr. Marcus to cover his basic living expenses and to lay the groundwork for the future of this mission.
